Hiya.
It’s the beginning of September. The weather is very dry. There has been no rain for a long time. Look at the grass. It’s yellow. It’s dry. In this video footage you can see smoke rising over the valley.
Check out the river. it’s called Bormida. There’s very little water in it. The water level is very low.
What do you call a longer period of time when there’s no rain, and everything gets dry. It’s called drought. There’s constant drought in Africa, but at times there’s drought even in Europe. Like now, in Alessandria, Italy.
So, Bormida is carrying very little water now. However, when there’s too much rain, Bormida is different. It gets out of its bed and water covers everything. Look at these photographs. Shocking, eh? When a river gets out of its river bed, it’s called flood.
Nowadays, there’s no flood. There’s drought. It’s September. Very soon, rain will come. Then, yellow grass will turn green. Low rivers will be great again. Hopefully, floods will not strike Acqui Terme this year.
Have a nice day. See you soon.
