Interesting or interested?

Hiya. Interested or interesting? Tiring or tired? Embarrassing or embarrassed? Surprising or surprised? Boring or bored? And the list goes on and on.

But how do you know which form to use? This video will show you that. Let’s get started.

Look at this guy. He’s tired. He is totally tired after football. He got tired because of football, right? So, how about football?Well, football is tiring. Football makes you tired.

Look at this girl here and look at her red cheeks. How does she feel? Well, she’s feeling embarrassed.

Picture this: one day she went to the supermarket. She was looking for a bottle of red wine. She found one, but when she took the bottle off the shelf, she accidentally pushed another bottle which went crashing to the floor. How do you think she felt?

She felt embarrassed. What made her embarrassed? Well, the situation did. This was a very embarrassing situation.

Look at this kid. She looks very happy. Actually she’s not happy, but she’s surprised, I’d say. Wow!  Now, what has made her surprised? That present has. It is a surprising gift.

Check out this bloke. He’s watching TV but he doesn’t look interested. Actually, he’s quite bored. What makes him so bored? The TV programme does. The TV programme is really boring today.

Okay, let’s wrap it up.

If something is is tiring, it makes you tired. Like, football. Football is tiring and you’re tired after football.
If you a situation is embarrassing, you feel embarrassed—you feel really uncomfortable.
If something is surprising, it makes you surprised. E.g. a gift, a photograph or some information can be surprising—and they make you surprised.
If something is boring, you feel bored. As for me, most TV programmes are boring, and I’m totally bored with them.
